Apple Pie Jam

Ok so yesterday i made something that was very new to me. I made jam! it was so much fun! and really simple. i was a little nervous in the beginning but when all was said and done i was soo happy i did it. so here is the super easy way to make jam...

So i started by getting all the ingredients together so i didn't forget anything. then i put the Manson jars in a large pot and poured water over them. you have to put them on the stove and boil the water so to sterilize the jars. you also need to boil the lids to the jars the same way. when the water starts to boil then set the timer for 10 min. after they have boiled for 10 mins keep them in the water til you are ready for them.
i think i used 4 or 5 apples to fill the 4 cups required. you follow the directions of the recipe. when it was time to fill i just used a ladle and ladled it in to the jars then closed them up.
after that then there is one more bath in the water. put the jars back in the boiling water and boil for 10 min. take them out and let them set for a whole day...Don't open them before!! lol in all the recipe made 3 pint jars.
keep unopened jars in a semi-dark, dry area and keep opened jar in fridge, use in a few weeks.

here's the recipe!
Apple Pie Jam
Yields 3 (1 pint) jars
Recipezaar

4 cups tart apples, chopped
1 ½ T. lemon juice
1 t. cinnamon
¼ t. nutmeg
¼ t. ginger
4 cups sugar
1 cup brown sugar, packed
1 (1.75 oz) box dry pectin
1 t. butter

Measure apples in a measuring cup, and then add in the same measuring cup water to fill up to the 4 cup line (with the apples in it). Put into a heavy saucepan. Add pectin, butter, spices, and lemon juice. Bring to a boil.
Add sugars and bring back to a full rolling boil. Boil for 1 minute, stirring constantly. Remove from heat and skim the top for any foam.
Ladle into hot sterilized jars, leaving ¼” head space. Put on lids, and process in water bath for 10 min.
